What's next in The Walking Dead: Dead City? Is there a season 2?
AMC has released a long list of Walking Dead spinoff series. Dead City features the continued stories of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

The Walking Dead: Dead City is the fourth spinoff of The Walking Dead series that is set in apocalyptic Manhattan and the surrounding areas. The focus of the first season was Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) desperate attempt to rescue her son Hershel (Logan Kim) with the help of her long-time enemy Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Will there be a season 2?
AMC has renewed Dead City for a second season that will center on storylines established in the final episode of season 1. Many characters introduced in that season will return for a second as the series expands The Walking Dead universe.
Dead City season 2 - what characters will return?
Maggie and her son Hershel will return after the first season's events saw them reunited. Hershel was abducted and rescued, but that doesn't end the dynamic between mother and son. He believes his mother's obsession with exacting revenge on Negan is the only thing she cares about. She vows to end things with Negan.
Negan, after being betrayed by Maggie and traded to secure Hershel's release, finds himself in the presence of The Dama (Lisa Emery), a woman who wants his help. She is one of the unsavory elements of Manhattan who seeks to take over the island with his help. Both characters return in season 2, and it will be interesting to see what path Negan takes.
The Croat (Željko Ivanek), a former Savior, leads his group of Burazi who threaten anyone who doesn't belong to their group. The Croat is a brilliant but psychotic man who uses his skills as a scientist to develop a way to use decomposing bodies to create methane for fuel. Will he hold a grudge towards Negan since The Dama appears to favor him over The Croat? Or will he come alongside them in the plan to take over Manhattan?
Marshal Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles) will also return, but his lie to the leaders of New Babylon will undoubtedly come back to haunt him. After discovering the true nature of Negan's crimes, he doesn't apprehend him. He tells The Prefect (Jasmin Walker) that he shot Negan, but this was a disappointment to her as she wanted to display his body, making a statement to others in the community. She is very interested in the methane produced in Manhattan and subtly threatens his children.
Nina (Pallavi Sastry) is a resident of Maggie's new community, The Bricks, where Ginny (Mahina Napoleon) was taken. Ginny was formerly under the care of Negan, who she learns killed her father. Nina has taken Ginny under her wing, and both characters will likely return as they have more stories to tell.
Filming for the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City is expected to begin in early 2024; this will likely delay the premeire of this season until 2025.
