Chandler Riggs began his Walking Dead career at an early age and would be 18 years old when he starred in his final episode of the series as Carl Grimes. Carl is the son of Rick and Lori Grimes, and in the beginning, he is separated from his father, who he believes died due to a gunshot wound. What episode was Carl first seen in?
Carl is seen for the first time towards the end of the first episode of the first season, "Days Gone Bye." When first introduced, he is seen with his mother at the camp outside Atlanta. The group hears a muffled voice of a man on the CB who is looking for fellow survivors. Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Carl don't recognize the voice of their husband and father, Rick (Andrew Lincoln). Nor does his best friend and co-worker Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal), who is with them at the camp.
After an altercation with Shane, his mother storms off, and Carl begins to follow. Shane stops Carl, telling him to take a seat, as he follows Lori. It is then discovered that Shane and Lori are involved in a romantic relationship, a fact Carl is unaware of. He comes to the tent that serves as their home and talks to his mom just after the couple embraces in a passionate kiss.
The next scene shows Rick in his squad car, where he has a photo of his family. Viewers now understand that Lori and Carl are the family members he is searching for.

When he is reunited with his father, Carl begins to change, appearing not to fear everything as much with his protector near him once again.
