Sadly, Jadis met her maker in this episode. McIntosh did a fantastic job during her final episode and is the first character to be prominently featured in three series within The Walking Dead universe. She was introduced in The Walking Dead and was reintroduced in TWD: World Beyond, and The Ones Who Live marked the final appearance of Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes.

The fifth episode of The Ones Who Live picked up where the previous episode left off. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) have embarked on a journey to return to Alexandria and their children. But before Rick and Michonne are seen, a mysterious figure walks in the woods. As a helicopter flies overhead, it is revealed to be Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam). This was an unexpected addition to this series but one that will prove significant in the story of Jadis.

In The Walking Dead, Jadis, while going by the name of Anne, had a brief but significant romantic relationship with Father Gabriel before departing to the CRM (Civic Republic Military) in season 9. Talking to our friends at Bam Smack Pow, Gilliam shared that while brief, their relationship was intense and had a profound impact on his character. Their relationship continued years later with yearly meetings featured in episode 5 of The Ones Who Live.

Another big storyline in the most recent TOWL episode was Jadis tracking down and finding Rick and Michonne. She is extremely intelligent, and, while investigating the helicopter crash in which Rick and Michonne were thought to have died, noticed details others would have overlooked. The main one was the yellow truck the couple used to begin their trip to Alexandria.

She eventually caught up to them, catching them off guard, but they escaped. After a long back-and-forth, they come to a deal that allows Michonne to return to Alexandria. Rick and Jadis will go to the CRM, with Rick falling in line and Jadis never revealing information about Alexandria.

In the end, Jadis is bitten on the neck by a walker. In her final moments, she recalled the people she loved and explained to Rick and Michonne that she was tired of losing, and the CRM helped her with that. She previously created a dossier that would reveal all about Rick and Alexandria to protect herself. This is what she used to threaten Rick and keep him at the CRM. She reveals the location of the document in her room at the Cascadia Base and tells them to destroy it and return home. In her last words, she continued to keep her loyalty to the CRM, stating, "The CRM will bring the world back."

Jadis asks them to promise not to go after the CRM. Michonne informs her that they will come against the CRM and take them down as their way isn't the right way.

"I wish I died an artist. It was never about survival in that life. It was just about truth. And this is mine. The end of my story. My peace. "

Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes

Before her death, she gives Rick the ring that Father Gabriel gave Jadis and tells him the story of how Rick wanted to marry Michonne years ago. She then tells him to do what you said you would do. He puts her out of her misery with sadness in his eyes.

McIntosh's performance in this episode was outstanding. She took Jadis to a whole new level and made a brilliant end for this character.
