The Walking Dead universe has expanded far beyond the original series, spawning multiple spinoffs, each with its own tone, characters, and take on the post-apocalyptic world. But while some are entertaining to watch, others aren't worth the time.
One that is actually worth your attention is The Walking Dead: Dead City. Unlike the half-baked, forgettable spinoffs that feel like lazy attempts to cash in on a successful brand, this zombie series actually delivers. The first two seasons have already aired on AMC, and a third season is currently in the works.
You can stream seasons 1 and 2 on AMC+ if you wanted to catch up or revisit some of your favorite scenes. Additionally, Netflix acquired the streaming rights to the first season earlier this year. So you can watch this particular installment on this streaming platform as well. However, fans hoping to see Dead City season 2 on Netflix this year might have to temper their expectations.
Dead City season 2 might not be coming to Netflix in 2025

Back in September 2025, AMC and Netflix announced an expanded streaming deal that would bring a variety of AMC and AMC Studios shows to the platform. Dead City season 2 was one of the shows included in this deal, promising fans that Maggie and Negan’s next harrowing adventures would eventually make their way to Netflix.
However, an official release date was not provided. We thought October might be the month Dead City season 2 finally dropped on Netflix, especially since The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 was scheduled to hit the platform then. But October came and went with no sign of it. We then shifted our hopes to November, but as the month winds down, it’s pretty obvious that the second season isn’t arriving on Netflix anytime this month either.
With only one month left in the year, it’s looking more and more unlikely that Netflix viewers will get to watch the second season at all in 2025. On Nov. 29, the streaming giant finally revealed its December 2025 slate of new shows and movies coming to its platform. But guess what show wasn't included in the lineup? Dead City season 2.
That's not good news. Sure, Netflix could be waiting to make a separate big announcement. But at this point, that feels more like wishful thinking than a realistic possibility. If it were coming in December, the streamer would’ve likely shared it in its December list. So our guess is that we'll be waiting until sometime next year to see Dead City season 2 on Netflix.
Of course, we could be wrong. But based on how things are looking right now, a 2026 release seems far more likely than anything dropping this year. We'll get back to you as soon as Netflix sets a release date, so stay tuned to Undead Walking!
