In 2019, Walking Dead universe director, EP, and SFX guru Greg Nicotero developed a series for Shudder based on the anthology movie Creepshow. The series aired on Shudder, AMC's home of everything horror, for four seasons, and Variety reports that there are no plans to continue the series.
Nicotero's series is based on the 1982 film from horror icons Stephen King and George A. Romero, and continues the anthology format established in the movie. The original film inspired Creepshow 2 and 3, but neither King nor Romero was involved in the third film.
Creepshow aired on Shudder for 23 episodes across four seasons and featured two specials, A Creepshow Animated Special and A Creepshow Holiday Special. The stories featured tell of terror, murder, the supernatural, and the unexplainable.

Creepshow, the series, honored the original, keeping a vintage '80s feel, but also paved its own path with fresh new ideas. Nicotero, Tom Savini (Night of the Living Dead), and John Harrison (Tales from the Darkside: The Movie) directed episodes of the series, and all three worked on the first two Creepshow movies. Other directors included David Bruckner (The Ritual), Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound), and Rob Schrab (Monster House).
Like the movie, the series was inspired by many works of short story fiction. Some of the stories used include Gray Matter by Stephen King, Survivor Type teleplay by Greg Nicotero based on a short story by Stephen King, and Mums by Joe Hill.

The series features many impressive actors throughout its run, including several TWD alums Josh McDermitt, Michael Rooker, Ethan Embry, Josh Mickel, Andrew "King Bach" Bachelor, C. Thomas Howell, and Cailey Fleming.
Despite the disappointing news that the series is complete, on November 11, a Blu-ray boxed set, Creepshow Complete Series, will be released. The set includes cast and crew interviews, BTS footage and featurettes, photo galleries, and a comic art booklet.
Nicotero continues to contribute to TWDU as a producer for several of the spinoffs and directed an episode in season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. His KNB EFX group continues to work on SFX in many of the spinoffs.
On September 9, Nicotero's latest project will premiere on Shudder. The six-part series, Guts & Glory, is a horror-based competition hosted by Nicotero. Unlike any competition series before it, the series immerses players into a full-on horror experience, which takes them through a series of unexpected challenges.
He will also write and direct the pilot of Swan Song, an adaptation of the award-winning novel by Robert McCammon.
