Signed photo taken by Norman Reedus up for raffle to support Ellis Park Wildlife Sanctuary
By Renee Hansen
Norman Reedus is a celebrity who dons many hats. He is an actor, author, and former model who is also a fantastic photographer. Throughout his years of filming in Georgia, he captured some incredible shots, including a series of road kill images he captured during his back-road rides to and from the set. You can secure a chance to win one of this author's favorite Reedus photographs and do some good with your donation.
Reedus, and a slew of other celebrities have donated items for a raffle in support of Ellis Park Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary created by JAAN (Jakarta Animal Aid Network) in 2021, in partnership with Lorinda Jane (Palm Oil Investigations), that takes in rescued wildlife that have are handicapped or too traumatized to be released back into the wild.
"Ellis Park will also be used as a hub to educate the public, locals, and visitors to the park about the negative impacts on wildlife used in the tourism industry and those saved from the illegal pet trade and wildlife smuggling." via EllisPark.org
Reedus has donated a signed 20x16 photo featuring cooks in the kitchen with cats, titled "Sub-Basement Of Maximum Security Prison In Moscow," which he took in 2007 while filming Moscow Chill. The picture shows two prisoners in the kitchen who peer at Reedus, who wasn't supposed to take photos during his tour, while a kitten stands watching. The state of the prison basement is obviously in disrepair, as seen by the damage to the walls and doorway that frames the subjects. The green wall behind them offsets the prison's dreary feeling, as green evokes feelings of life and renewal. While the image is dismal, the out-of-focus kitty in the foreground softens the overall feel of the photo. You can purchase a raffle ticket here.
Other items in the raffle are a Bespoke Gucci suit donated by Nick Cave and a signature Fender Jazz Bass "road worn" and engraved by Flea, bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Courtney Love donated the handwritten lyrics to Hole's "Violet, but good luck as Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins fame has also joined the raffle as the lyrics are "about a guy I know a little bit." Michael Imperioli donated a signed shooting script from the Sopranos episode "The Two Tonys."
