Set in Texas, Ransom Canyon is Netflix's newest romantic drama, a modern Western story that is sure to rival those of Taylor Sheridan. The 10-part series will premiere on April 17, and we've got all the details, including the details of a Walking Dead universe cast member who appears in the series.
Ransom Canyon was created, written, and executive produced by April Blair, who is known for her work on Wednesday and All American. The story is based on Jodi Thomas' book series that chronicles the intertwining lives of three families living in the Texas Hill Country.
Blair shared some thoughts on the series with Tudum: “At its core, Ransom Canyon isn’t just a town. It’s an idea. It’s the painful longing for your first love. It’s the burning desire to protect your family. It’s cowboys and lovers, grifters and thieves. Lust, deceit, heartache, home … Ransom has it all. I think people are going to fall in love with this little slice of Texas and the dramas and romances that we created there.”
Ransom Canyon cast
The series is led by Josh Duhamel (The Lost Husband, Transformers, Love, Simon) and New York Times bestselling author Minka Kelly (Euphoria, Friday Night Lights). Staten Kirkland (Duhamel) work to fight against those who threaten his way of life as the owner of the sprawling Double K Ranch. Quinn O'Grady (Minka) has returned home after trying to pursue her dream in New York city to start fresh.
Additional cast includes James Brolin (Sweet Tooth) as an ex-army captain and owner of the Fuller Ranch. Eoin Macken (Le Brea) portrays Davis Collins, Ivy-educated owner of the more modern Bar W Ranch. Other cast members include Lizzy Greene, Meta Golding, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Garrett Wareing, and Andrew Liner.
Matt Medrano, who also stars in an episode of Tales of the Walking Dead, has been cast as Adam Allen in Ransom Canyon.
