Ever since fans learned The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 premiere date was going to be the same weekend as San Diego Comic-Con 2026, there's been a lot of hope that AMC would have something special planned for the event. Well, now we know that's true.
On Thursday, July 9, AMC unveiled their full plans for SDCC this year, which takes place from July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center, and confirmed a very special Dead City panel and season 3 premiere screening on Friday, July 24.
The Walking Dead: Dead City panel will take place at 11:45 to 12:30 at Hall H, the biggest ballroom at the convention. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be attending the panel. How could they have a panel without Maggie and Negan? Producer Scott Gimple and showrunner Seth Hoffman will also be joining Cohan and Morgan, along with two new stars of the franchise, Aimee Garcia and Raúl Castillo.
Then, following the panel, there's an even bigger event for Dead City fans to check out. AMC is hosting a premiere party and special screening of the Dead City season 3 premiere at The Loft at Petco Park, the baseball stadium across the street from the convention center. The screening begins at 6:30 p.m. and continues until 8:30 p.m. AMC's press release indicates that the screening is hosted by cast and producers, so it sounds like Cohan, Morgan, and the whole gang will be attending, as well.
If you want to attend, I highly recommend you get there early to make sure you get a spot for the screening.
The Walking Dead usually has a significant presence at San Diego Comic-Con. When I attended the convention in 2019, it was one of the most popular panels. Dead City season 3 is stepping into the spotlight. And based on what I've heard about Dead City season 3, fans are going to be quite pleased with this season.
So, to recap, fans in attendance are getting access to the cast and creative team of Dead City season 3 along with a look at the season 3 premiere two days before it premieres on AMC on Sunday, July 26. New episodes will air Sunday nights on AMC and AMC+ through the season 3 finale on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Unfortunately, Dead City season 3 will be the only official Walking Dead TV presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is sitting out the convention this year after a big presence last year. It's quite shocking considering season 4 is the final season of that show, but hey, maybe we'll see them at New York Comic Con in the fall.
