The most recent episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon continued to explore Spain and introduced exciting new characters. The third season of the Daryl Dixon-led spinoff shifted gears, moving the story from France to Spain. In episode 303, "El Sacrificio," there was one sentence that confirms the existence of a comic character that fans have long speculated could appear in the Daryl Dixon spinoff.

The new season of Daryl Dixon picked up soon after the events of the previous season, with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) traveling in England, after their traumatic experiences in the Chunnel. Then first make a stop in good old London, where they meet an interesting man, Julian (Stephen Merchant), who claims to be the last Englishman in London. They make a plan to use Julian's boat to sail back to the States, but a storm comes upon them, and they find themselves in Spain.

Soon after their arrival, they come upon a group of Banderleros threatening a young couple. Daryl, of course, saves the day and forces the young couple to take them to their town as Carol is in dire need of medical care. Upon arriving at the community of Solaz del Mar, they discover antiquated customs, including the practice of trading daughters for protection and supplies from El Alcázar.

Daryl Dixon confirms existence of Rick Grimes' brother Jeffrey

Carol, who has experienced quite a change after the trauma she experienced in France, is looking at the world in a different light. While she desires to help the community, Daryl continues to remind her that the main goal is to return home. Episode 303 sees Carol remain at Solaz del Mar, while Daryl heads off to make the repairs to the boat. Carol has befriended a man, Antonio (Eduardo Noriega) and during a brief conversation regarding his past, he mentions Barcelona, which prompts Carol to share that she has "a friend whose brother lived there back before."

This comment refers to Jeffrey Grimes, brother of Rick. This character has never been mentioned in any of the TWD series, until now.

Jeffrey's story is featured in a brief story in The Walking Dead: The Alien, where readers learn about his journey to Spain. He met a woman named Claudia and mentioned his brother, who he recently discovered was hospitalized and in a coma. The duo made plans to travel to the US, as Jeffrey desires to see his brother, and Claudia heard rumors that the US had been able to contain the outbreak. Sadly, Jeffrey is bitten by a walker before they can begin their journey.

When the Daryl Dixon series was announced to be moving to Spain, fans got excited about the possibility of Jeffrey being introduced to the story. The series has often taken liberties to change the source material, and the spinoff could choose to do the same.

Rick never mentioned his brother in the main series, but he did have an off-screen conversation with Carol regarding his brother and his whereabouts, or how else would she know this? This sheds more light on the close connection these characters had, as Carol previously discussed her abusive marriage with Rick.

Could Jeffrey appear in Daryl Dixon before its conclusion in season 4? It is doubtful, but a fun scenario to speculate about. It is the little details like this that make TWDU such a fan-favorite franchise. This series has done a good job with Daryl and Carol mentioning familiar names of people they miss back in the States.
