AMC has done a remarkable job of expanding The Walking Dead universe through the spinoff stories. Dead City takes viewers to the post-apocalyptic streets of Manhattan. The Ones Who Live saw Rick and Michonne travel to Oregon, and, most impressively, Daryl Dixon explored France in its first and second seasons.

The network will premiere the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on Sunday, September 7. The previous season concluded with Daryl and Carol traveling away from France via the Chunnel. So, what is in store for season 3?

Reedus and McBride return, reprising their roles as Daryl and Carol, to survive the entire eleven-season run of the main series. They will be joined by several intriguing new characters, including a Londoner named Julian, who is portrayed by Emmy-winning actor Stephen Merchant.

Season 3 of Daryl Dixon will see a notable change in scenery, starting with the first episode, of which the first four minutes were released on AMC+. Daryl and Carol will arrive in London, indicated by several recognizable landmarks. Here is where they will meet Julian, who claims he is the last Englishman in England. Hopefully, we will receive more information on why London appears to be devoid of humans.

Daryl and Carol are heading to Spain in Daryl Dixon season 3

The most significant change in the upcoming season will be that the bulk of it is set and filmed in Spain. After the romantically stunning scenery of France in the first seasons, the series will shift gears and adopt the look of a spaghetti Western set in the breathtaking Spanish countryside.

Showrunner David Zabel talked to Entertainment Weekly about the next season and the big move. Here's what he said:

"Spain feels entirely different than France. The architecture, the geography, the language, the culture, the history — it just has a very different vibe in Spain. And so we've really leaned into those aspects of Spain, and they bring so much specificity and color and intrigue to the story.”

One fascinating location that will be featured is the ruins of Belchite, which were destroyed in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. After his victory, General Franco declared that the site would remain as it was, serving as a memorial to the war. The location looks very apocalyptic, and Reedus has described it as a "spiritual sort of Tatooine mixed with Don Quixote vibe.”

One scene that has received a lot of hype is a train sequence filmed in Aragón, which is said to "blow people away." The trailers released by AMC have featured walkers chained to something they are pulling down a train track, so it will be exciting to see what this is all about.

Another major storyline will center around Carol and a man named Antonio, portrayed by Spanish actor Eduardo Noriega. He is a complex and wounded man who befriends Carol, but it is unclear if they will have a romantic relationship. McBride has stated that Antonio will cause Carol to view the world differently.

Exciting things are in store for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3. This season will feature seven episodes. The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season.

Watch the Daryl Dixon season 3 premiere on Sunday, Sept. 7!
