Carol Peletier is one of the most complex characters within The Walking Dead universe. Throughout her story, Carol has experienced an extremely drastic transformation from abused housewife to fierce survivor. Fans were excited to see Melissa McBride return to portray Carol in season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. In September, she will reprise the role for the series' third season, where she will meet someone who will allow her to see the world differently.

The second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was subtitled The Book of Carol. This paved the way for the reintroduction of Carol after an extended absence. Fans of the character longed for her return, most especially in Daryl's continued story.

The two best friends parted ways in the series finale episode of The Walking Dead and had been apart for quite some time. After a brief radio conversation, in which Daryl promises to return to the Commonwealth, Carol becomes concerned when he doesn't arrive. She eventually discovers that he was unwillingly put on a ship bound for France. In true Carol form, she devises a plan to reunite with him.

After the duo's season 2 reunion, they find themselves traveling toward England via the Chunnel. This leads to the next season's story, where they will meet Stephen Merchant's character, Julian, in London, and from there, they eventually find themselves shipwrecked in Spain.

Season 3 is set in Spain and heavily influenced by the spaghetti Western movies of the 1960s and 1970s. Carol and Daryl encounter many new people, including a man named Antonio (Eduardo Noriega).

In a recent video from the Behind the Dead series that takes a peek BTS of the Daryl Dixon spinoff, Noriega talks about his role in season 3. He describes Antonio as a wonderful character who has proven a challenge to portray as he is a wounded and complex person. Little by little, Antonio becomes familiar with Carol.

McBride states that Antonio forces Carol to see the world in a different way. Instead of fighting and running, perhaps there is another way to live their lives. In one of the teasers for the season, Survive the Survival, Carol tells Daryl, "If you're lucky, you can start living again." For Carol and many of the survivors, living again would be a challenge after the full-on survival mode she has lived in for years.

The upcoming season will be quite a change from the previous seasons, which were set and filmed in France. In Spain, the duo will encounter friends and foes in what resembles the Old West, complete with a train sequence that, according to series EP Steve Squillante, will "blow people away."

Don't miss the exciting, action-packed third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC and AMC+ beginning September 7.
