Fans of the Walking Dead franchise have been enjoying the new cinematic spinoffs tied to the legendary TV saga. The original show completed its iconic run on AMC in 2022, with those episodes bringing an end to the global phenomenon that started with Rick Grimes awaking to a zombie apocalypse that would change television forever. But it was also only the beginning of a new chapter, as AMC found a way to allow the world of The Walking Dead to live on through multiple TWD Universe spinoffs.
We've enjoyed those adventures over the past few years. Whether it's Maggie and Negan's unlikely vacation in New York City in Dead City, Daryl and Carol's excursion to Europe in Daryl Dixon, or Rick and Michonne's joint-comeback in The Ones Who Live, there has been plenty of TWD for all of the fans to enjoy.
However, one gripe that audiences have had is that the spinoffs haven't been as widely available around the world as the original show was. Thankfully for fans in the UK that is no longer an issue, and that's never been more clear as the next installment of the franchise is coming to TV screens over there before the end of the year.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3's UK release date confirmed (but it's not coming until its US run is finished)
All of the TWD fans in the UK have been asking about the status of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and its third season. The show was renewed for season 3, which has been airing on US TV screens since earlier this month (after a summer's worth of promotion for its return) but there hasn't been any update on when it would grace UK audiences with its presence. That is, until now! Yes, it has finally been confirmed that the third season of the beloved TWD spinoff will be available to stream on Sky's on-demand services and NOW from Friday, October 24. It will also air on linear TV on Sky Max.
That means it will be there for you to enjoy before spooky season commences, but there is also an understandable downside to that. Not only does it mean that fans will still have to wait for over a month until the show's return, but it also confirms that they won't be able to watch it alongside the show's US fanbase. Daryl Dixon's third season completes its domestic run on October 19, which is likely the reason why Sky and NOW will make it available on the Friday after that (the show's previous season aired on Fridays in the UK).

See, even though Sky aired the second season of Daryl Dixon weekly (and on the same week that each respective episode aired in the US, too), it has been holding the most recent seasons of the spinoffs until they complete their runs in the US. That allows them to upload the whole season as a boxset onto its on-demand service (while also airing the episodes weekly for those who wish to view it the old-fashioned way). In today's day and age where platforms like to have their cake and eat it, Sky is simply following suit by ensuring that fans who wish to watch weekly can, but that fans who would prefer to binge the whole season can do that too.
The downside of that method is the wait that ensues for UK fans. After all, seeing promotion for Daryl Dixon's season 3 premiere throughout the past few months must have been frustrating to UK fans knowing that they would have to wait for at least a partion of the season to air before they get to enjoy it too. It also makes avoiding spoilers via social media that much harder.
Sky acquired the broadcast rights to the TWD spinoffs last year, obtaining all 11 seasons of the original series, as well as the first seasons of Dead City and Daryl Dixon, and miniseries The Ones Who Live. It aired all of them just in time for the season 2 premiere of Daryl Dixon, which it then made available weekly as the new episodes aired in the US.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 premieres on Sky and NOW on Friday, October 24. It will air weekly on Sky Max, with the whole season also being available to stream on both Sky's on-demand service and NOW.
