Henry Chaisson's feature directorial debut, Recluse, is a new horror thriller that is currently in post-production. Deadline recently published a first-look image of the film, along with a list of cast members, which includes The Walking Dead's Xander Berkeley.

Chaisson, known for writing M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural Apple TV series Servent and the folk horror Antlers produced by Guillermo del Toro, wrote and directed the upcoming film.

Sasha Frolova (The Empty Man), Xander Berkeley (The Walking Dead), Kimball Farley (The Righteous Gemstones), and Toby Poser (The Fall of the House of Usher) join Mia Vallet, who plays the central role of Joan. Additionally, Frankie Seratch, Gillian Cooper, and Christine Nyland are also featured in the film.

The story follows a solitary audio engineer, Joan, who returns to her family estate at the request of her ailing father. While there, Joan discovers a decades old malevolent secret that she must decide if the horrors she faces are only in her troubled mind, or are the result of her father's misdeeds, who was rumored to be involved with the occult.

Xander Berkeley - latest roles

Walking Dead fans remember Berkeley as, Gregory, the cowardly and arrogant leader of the Hilltop Colony. Introduced in season 6, Gregory's short lived run ended when he was hung Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) on orders from Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in season 9.

Recently, Berkeley starred in the impactful movie No Address. This story was based on actual events of a group of homeless people living on the streets. The film features an impressive cast list, including William Baldwin, Beverly D’Angelo, Ashanti, Lucas Jade Zumann, Ty Pennington, Patricia Valasquez, Isabella Ferreira, and Kristanna Loken. You can rent or purchase No Address from many streaming services. Check out the entire list here.

The actor, who has over 250 acting credits to his name, has been quite busy, appearing in Reagan (2024) as George Schultz, former Secretary of State during Reagan’s term, and the drama, The Ghost Trap, which stars TWD's Steven Ogg and Berkeley's wife, Sarah Clarke. He also appeared in the Alec Baldwin-led western, Rust.

Next, Berkeley will appear in another horror thriller, Oddities, directed by Tyler Savage. Based on Savage's same-titled short film, the story follow two friends who after the accidental killing of their drug dealer, encounter an antique shop owner who isn't as sweet as she first appears.

Berkeley and his wife also own The Cornish Inn, a16 room inn located in Maine.
