In his next project after his Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan announced that he would tackle The Odyssey,  a poem by Homer. The Greek poem is one of the oldest literary works that is still read in modern times. The $250 million budget for the film, which is Nolan's second for Universal, will be his most expensive, surpassing The Dark Knight. The Odyssey will be a mythical action movie filmed using Imax Film Technology.

Morton was announced with Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, and Bill Irwin, who will join previously announced Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, and Charlize Theron. Patal previously starred in Nolan's Tenet (2020), Page appeared in Inception (2010), and Irwin in the 2014 film Interstellar (2014).

No announcements have been made regarding who the cast will be portraying, but in addition to Odysseus, the story also features his wife and son, Penelope and Telemachus, with Athena, Circe, Poseidon, and Zeus.

The Odyssey will begin filming in Feb. with a release date of July 17.
