It's been over three years since The Walking Dead ended its run on AMC, yet the fanbase remains fiercely devoted. When you've been following a show for so long, it makes sense why you would have such a deep attachment to its world, characters, stories, cast, and crew. The original series may have wrapped up, but that doesn't mean you have to stop following the people who brought it to life.
Honestly, it seems like every day there's breaking news about a beloved cast member or crew member taking on an exciting new project. Recently, we learned that Andrew Lincoln is signed on to narrate a nature series for ITV. Additionally, Michael Cudlitz will appear in multiple episodes of the upcoming CBS drama, Marshals. Now, we've just learned that a former Walking Dead showrunner is teaming up with Amazon for a new thriller series!
Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang signs on to Never to Be Found at Amazon
The last three seasons of The Walking Dead might not be as universally loved as the earlier ones, but they still managed to deliver moments of high tension, emotional depth, and gripping storytelling that kept viewers invested. Angela Kang was the creative force behind those seasons and guided the hit zombie series to its conclusion.
She was even supposed to be the showrunner of the spinoff series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, but decided to step down from the role and remain as an executive producer. Since then, she's been in a partnership with Amazon MGM Studios under a multi-year overall deal. Her newest project with the company is an upcoming psychological thriller series titled Never to Be Found.
According to Variety, Kang will not only write the series' scripts but also serve as executive producer. Like many TV shows nowadays, Never to Be Found is based on another piece of work. It's based on the upcoming novel of the same name by Jo Spain, which is slated for release in the United Kingdom on July 2. However, there isn't a U.S. release date just yet.
When it comes to what Never to Be Found is about, plot details aren’t fully revealed yet. What we do know is that it will center around a character named Veronica Page as she becomes caught up with a suspected murderer while facing her own painful past. We'll also see the thriller series jump between present-day England and flashbacks to Japan and London. That's really all that's been revealed about the show for now.
It's still in the development stage, so no actors have been cast yet. Would it be nice to see some familiar faces from The Walking Dead involved? Absolutely! But we need the series to get past the stage it's at right now. Kang was previously signed on to be the showrunner and executive producer of Amazon's Silk: Spider Society live-action series, but that project was eventually scrapped. That said, we don't want to see this happen again with Never to Be Found. We want to see this show actually hit our TV screens!
Besides Never to Be Found, Kang is also working on another book-to-series adaptation for Amazon. She's serving as the showrunner and writer on the upcoming adaptation of R.F. Kuang’s fantasy novel Katabasis. So, that's another show to look forward to as well!
