Actor Austin Nichols is known for his roles as Julian Baker from One Tree Hill and Spencer Monroe from The Walking Dead. Deadline recently reported that Nichols has been cast for the upcoming fourth installment of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.
Nichols was announced for the film with : Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Gabbriette. This group joins the previously announced Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King. Freddie Prinze Jr. will reprise his role and rumors have circulated that Jennifer Love Hewitt may also return.
In 2014, Sony Pictures announced plans for a fourth film which never came to be. In February 2023 plans for the upcoming film began to take shape and in March 2024 the release date of July 18, 2025 was announced. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct the story written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson from Leah McKendrick's previous draft.
The first film in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series of films was released in 1997 and was loosely based on Lois Duncan's same-titled novel. This film starred Prinze Jr., Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe as four friends who experienced a tragic accident. They reunite to find themselves stalked by a hook-wielding psycho.
The sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) featured Prinze Jr., Hewitt, and Muse Watson in reprisals of their roles who were joined by newcomers Brandy, Mekhi Phifer, Bill Cobbs, Matthew Settle, Jennifer Esposito, Jack Black, Jeffrey Combs, and John Hawkes. The events in this movie take place one year after the first as the group travels to The Bahamas. Once again, they are targeted by a killer.
In 2006 a direct-to-video film, I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer was released as a standalone sequel. This film stars Brooke Nevin, David Paetkau, Torrey DeVitto, Ben Easter, and stuntman Don Shanks as the Fisherman. This story uses the legend from the other movies with new characters who travel to Colorado and are stalked by a killer.

Next, Nichols will appear in the Tyler Perry's war drama, The Six Triple Eight. The film is expected to released on Netflix on Dec. 20, 2024. The story tells of the contributions ofthe 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black and all-female battalion, in World War II.
You can also see him in the Lifetime movie Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story and the rom-com The Christmas Classic. He has also appeared in several series, Walker, Ray Donavan, This Close, The village and Bates Motel.
