Walking Dead's Noah Emmerich cast in legal thriller The Up and Comer

Actor Noah Emmerich portrayed Dr. Jenner in The Walking Dead. This character appeared in two episodes of season 1, which aired in 2010. He would be instrumental in the life of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) when he informs Rick that everyone is infected. Since then, he has had roles in several other series, including Dark Winds, The Big Cigar, and the Netflix original movie The Good Nurse. Deadline recently reported that Emmerich has been cast in The Up and Comer.

The movie is an adaptation of Howard Roughan's same-titled New York Times bestseller legal thriller of which he adapted the screenplay. Chris Long, known for his work on The Patient, Suspicion, The Americans, and more directs the film. Long produces with Jeremy Alter, Roughan, and Gary B. Goldman. Sheila Jaffe and Bryan Riley oversaw casting.

Production for the film recently began in Chicago with previously announced Nate Mann (Masters of the Air), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), and Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap (The Inheritance). Emmerich was announced with Rebecca De Mornay (Risky Business, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), and Sarah Bolger (Control).

The story follows Philip Randall (Mann) whose outwardly idyllic life sees him on the cusp of becoming his firm's youngest partner. Things begin to fall apart when a former classmate (Burnap) threatens to reveal an event from his past, involving another woman (Mitchell). Philip is forced to risk it all which leads to blackmail, murder, and revenge, and the greatest danger of all...winning.

What else does Noah Emmerich star in?

Emmerich starred in the first season of AMC's psychological thriller Dark Winds, based on Tony Hillerman's book series Leaphorn & Chee. Set in the 1970s, the first season, which premiered in 2022, follows Navajo law enforcement officials Leaphorn (Zhan McClarnon) and Chee (Kiowa Gordon), who, after investigating a murder, begin to question their spiritual beliefs. The series has since released two additional seasons.

In 2022, Emmerich starred with Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne in the Netflix thriller The Good Nurse. The movie is based on Charles Graeber's true crime novel about the serial killer Charles Cullan and the nurse who suspects him of his crimes.

Emmerich is also well known for his roles in Beautiful Girls (1996), The Truman Show (1998), Frequency (2000), Miracle (2004), Little Children (2006), and Super 8 (2011). In 2019, he won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as FBI Agent Stan Beeman in the FX series The Americans.

He had a recurring role in Netflix's comedy Space Force, that was created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, who also stars. The story follows a group of people who are enlisted to form a sixth branch of the US Armed Forces known as Space Force.
