Lennie James began his Walking Dead journey in the pilot episode of the main series as Morgan Jones. This character would come and go in the life of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and, during the fourth season of Fear the Walking Dead, become the first crossover character. Morgan's story has concluded, and now James stars in the 2024 apocalyptic musical film The End.

The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated director Joshua Oppenheimer, known for his documentaries The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence. The End is produced by Oppenheimer, Signe Byrge Sørensen, and Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton, who also stars.

The cast consists of a mother (Swinton), a father (Michael Shannon), their 20-year old son (George McKay), with a friend (Bronagh Gallagher), a doctor (James), a butler (Tim McInnerny), a woman named Mary (Danielle Ryan), and a girl (Moses Ingram).

Inspired by the Gold Age of Broadway, The End is a musical set two decades after the end of the world and follows the last remaining humans on Earth who reside in a bunker. The son was born in the bunker and has never seen the world outside. The story takes a turn when the girl, an outsider, makes her way into their home.
