The final episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, June 22, and it’s sure to pack a punch!

Between the looming war with the New Babylon Federation, Hershel’s (Logan Kim) team-up with The Dama (Lisa Emery), and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) ever tense relationship, anything could happen! As the show rockets toward the season 2 finale, Undead Walking shares a few plausible theories of what could await Negan.

Negan will take out one of the big bads

Negan has spent a majority of the show’s second season as a prisoner and a pawn, coerced into doing The Dama’s bidding following her threats against his family. He’s also been involved in a complicated game of “Friends or Foes” with The Croat (Željko Ivanek), and while he pretended to be a little buddy-buddy with Bruegel (Kim Coates) at the museum, it’s fair to say there isn’t trust between them either, especially after he learned of the other man’s plans to betray him. Negan would have plenty of reasons to want to kill any of them – and the season 2 finale might be just the time!

A sneak peek shared by CBR appeared to support this theory as it revealed Negan reenacting his infamous “eenie, meenie, miney, mo” lineup with Perlie (Gaius Charles) and Bruegel as Maggie listened from around a corner. Could it be Bruegel at the receiving end of Lucille 2.0 next, or does Negan have other plans for him?

Annie and Joshua never left Manhattan and will reunite with Negan

Negan’s concern for his wife, Annie (Medina Senghore), and his son, Joshua, has been his primary motivation for helping The Dama and The Croat prepare for their battle against the New Babylon Federation throughout season 2, but he’s yet to reunite with them. He got close in “Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days,” but after learning that Bruegel planned to stage an ambush on their group, he made the decision to send them back to Tennessee without so much as a goodbye.

However, it’s still possible that Annie could play a surprise role in the finale. One major reason being that it makes little sense to base Negan’s storyline around his family and to go so far as to bring Senghore back for a brief glimpse through binoculars and a quick hallucination scene, only to never see them again.

Fans remember from The Walking Dead that Annie is a caring and capable survivor. In Dead City's “Novi Dan, Novi Pocetak,” Negan described her as a “smart, sexy, take no s***, grab you by the balls kinda gal.” Just because Negan gave an order to the Burazi to send them home doesn’t mean that Annie listened. She could have chosen to sneak away with Joshua and wait for an opportune moment to talk with her husband – after all, she likely wasn’t aware why she was turned away. If that’s the case, Negan and Annie could reunite and potentially even fight side by side in the near future.

Negan won’t be able to save Ginny

Negan shattered his father-daughter-like bond with Ginny (Mahina Napoleon) by confessing to killing her real dad in season 1, sparking her quest for revenge…but he never stopped caring about her.

After she suffered a brutal injury during a Walker attack in Central Park in the episode “The Bird Always Knows,” the teenager has been in a fight for her life and Negan has been desperate to save her. Unfortunately, it isn’t looking good. Being skewered on a likely rusty piece of metal wouldn’t be a good position to be in for anyone in the modern world, but in the zombie apocalypse where antibiotics are few and far between and all well over a decade old, it seems probable that Negan won’t be able to save her – ventilator or not.

The Dama will encourage Hershel to kill Negan

While it’s not likely that Negan will actually meet his demise before the end of the series, it’s still entirely possible. Death is always around the corner for him due to his dark past. In fact, it’s more surprising when someone Negan meets doesn’t want to kill him – at least, at first.

Maggie has been struggling to coexist with him for years, but her desire to end things between them is an ever-present battle for her...and it's become something that Hershel is thinking about more and more too. Now, he's openly sided with The Dama, who seems to encourage his deepest and darkest thoughts and resentments. She is also aware that Negan has a soft spot for kids and would be less likely to harm him. Since Negan has more or less served his purpose for her, The Dama could turn her newest protege on Negan to help tie up any loose ends and push the teenager to a darker potential she has in mind for him.
