Maggie Green (Lauren Cohan) made quite the impression during her initial introduction in season 2 of The Walking Dead. She rode up on horseback, swung a bat to kill a walker, and then retrieved Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) so she could be with her son Carl (Chandler Riggs), who had been accidentally shot.

Maggie was the oldest daughter of Hershel (Scott Wilson). They lived on the Greene family farm and met Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group after their farmhand Otis (Pruitt Taylor Vince) shot Carl while hunting deer. Although Hershel's medical training was on animals, he knew enough to save Carl's life.

Throughout the eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, Maggie endured tremendous loss. She witnessed the beheading of her father by the Governor (David Morrissey), the brutal bludgeoning of her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun), and lost her sister Beth (Emily Kinney). She pressed on, but she was never the same.

Maggie took her son Hershel and left the communities in season 9 to help Georgie (Jayne Atkinson) set up new communities. She and Hershel returned in season 10 when she had to face the loss of Hilltop.

Maggie - The Walking Dead: Dead City

After the series finale of The Walking Dead, Maggie would return in The Walking Dead: Dead City spinoff. This series focused on Maggie and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) several years after the main series conclusion.

She was forced to partner with her former enemy to secure the release of her son, who had been kidnapped by one of Negan's former Saviors. She betrays Negan by using him as bait to ensure the release of her son. By the end of the season, she promised her son she would finish things with Negan so they could move on with their lives.

Maggie will return in season 2 of Dead City, as seen in the teaser trailer below.

It is unclear who Maggie is talking to and the teaser mostly focuses on Negan in his new role. But it looks like they will be on opposite sides of the war for Manhattan. Seeing Negan back to his old ways could be triggering for Maggie and who knows how she will react.

The Walking Dead: Dead City returns to AMC and AMC+ in Spring 2025.
