Emmy & Golden Globe Award-winning actor Steven Yeun is fondly remembered as Glenn Rhee in AMC's long-running series The Walking Dead. His character's brutal death in season 7 was a decisive one that saw the series' viewership numbers rapidly decrease. Since he departed TWD, Yeun has made quite a name for himself, having many notable roles. One such role is that of Danny Cho in the Netflix original Beef. Will Yeun reprise the role for season 2?

Netflix has announced that the anthology series Beef has been renewed for a second season. The series hails from creator and showrunner Lee Sung Ji and A24 and its first season received raved reviews for the writing, directing and performances of Yeun and his co-star Ali Wong.

Beef season 1

Beef season 1 followed struggling contractor Danny Cho, who, after experiencing a road rage incident with Wong's Amy Lau, a small business owner, allows the incident to take over his life. Danny and Amy have personal issues, which the road rage incident fuels into a feud that overruns every aspect of their lives. The plot was inspired by an actual event that showrunner Lee experienced.

The first season also stars Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake in supporting roles. The series won numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmys, three Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guilds, and more. Season 1 ranks 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the consensus read: "Ali Wong and Steven Yeun are a diabolically watchable pair of adversaries in Beef, a prime-cut comedy that finds the pathos in pettiness."

Beef Season 2

Beef is an anthology series in which each season will focus on a new cast and new incident. While Yeun won't return as a cast member, he and Wong will serve as executive producers with Lee and Jake Schreier, Kitao Sakurai, Ethan Kuperberg, Anna Moench, Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny.

The eight-part second season will consist of 30 minute episodes that according to Netflix, follows a young couple who "witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner."

Beef Season 2 cast

  • Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman, Maestro)
