Zombie comedy with all star cast comes to Netflix in December
By Renee Hansen
Fans of The Walking Dead are always eager to watch other series and movies with undead themes. One horror sub-genre that has become popular with fans of the genre is horror-comedy. Netflix currently has a great list, including Zombieland, Army of the Dead, The Babysitter, and more. In Dec., the streamer will bring another zom-com to its catalog, The Dead Don't Die.
The 2019 film was written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, a proponent of indie cinema known for Down by Law, The Way of the Samurai, and more. The Dead Don't Die is described as an absurdist zombie comedy that doesn't take itself or the end of the world too seriously. Sadly, even heavy hitters like Bill Murray and Adam Driver, who star, couldn't save the film as it didn't fare well at the box office. But that being said, it is a fun watch with loads of dry humor and an ensemble cast.
The film's cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton, Tom Waits, Danny Glover, Austin Butler, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Carol Kane, Austin Butler, and Selena Gomez.
The story follows Murray and Driver's characters, Chief Cliff Robertson and Officer Ronnie Peterson, as they patrol their peaceful city of Centerville, a town where nothing exciting ever happens. Out of the blue, a zombie outbreak occurs, requiring the officers to investigate. The movie follows law enforcement and town residents as they avoid being the next victim of the undead and discover its source.
Check out the quirky and brilliant chemistry between Murray and Driver, two talented comedic actors, in the trailer below. Don't miss The Dead Don't Die on Netflix beginning Dec. 16.
