After the much-anticipated Season 6 trailer was shown in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con this afternoon, the cast members and producers sat down in front of a crowd of 7,000. After the panelists entered with Robert Kirkman T-shirts and Kirkman puppets-on-a-stick, Chris Hardwick (who jokingly stated that he preferred Kirkman’s presence this way) entertained questions about Season 6 of The Walking Dead, which we now know will premiere on October 11th of 2015 with a super sized 90-minute episode.

The unusually longer haired and bearded, but quite usually erudite and awesome Scott Gimple announced that the premiere would be held at a facility able to handle thrice the capacity of majestic Hall H–Madison Square Garden in New York City. Mr. Gimple reinforced my thoughts from this

morning

telling the audience that they have been known to “play with the truth in trailers”.  His reasoning being that it “maintains the experience for everyone”. I like that thinking and wording. Mr. Gimple let us know that Rick will indeed have challenges to the way he does things to include these people, they will “play with time” and the wolves will be included in “ways that we don’t expect!”

Scott Gimple is one of my favorites to listen to as you may know if you’ve read anything I’ve written about him before. He’s a master illusionist.  His slight of hand with a question is a thing of beauty. Is this your card? Let me pull this quarter out of your ear! He can make you so excited about the future of The Walking Dead by saying spectacular vocabulary words and not revealing the Ace up his sleeve or even the 2 of diamonds. He endeared me to him even more this time because he was so pleased that the audience laughed at a mirroring in the mirror joke that I would have made!

Danai was asked about Carol. She let the audience and her bosses know that she’s always wanted more interaction with Carol. That she has a deep respect for Carol and that their end goal is the same–protection and safety, but that they go about it differently and at the end of Season 5 Michonne is gathering intel about everything. Danai is another one I love to hear. Her perspective and word choices are spectacular! Even more spectacular when they coincide with my analysis! Chris Hardwick said he hadn’t thought of her reasoning for re-embracing her sword at the end of the finale, but I had! It was nice to hear confirmation from the sworded one herself. Here’s what I wrote back

then

. But Michonne confirmed that she wanted balance. She knew what the sword can do in her hands, but it is not safe in the hands of others. She can’t just lay it down.

And Andy misses his beard, but his wife does not!
