The Walking Dead: DVD special feature ‘Rotters in the flesh’
By Susie Graham
The Season 5 DVD for The Walking Dead will be released on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, just 2 days after you can catch season 5 on the
5 Sundays / 5 Seasons marathon
on AMC. We’ve seen sneak peeks of a few of the extras already:
,
and 2 deleted scenes-
and
Now we get some great behind-the-scenes scoop about the pink, napalm-melted street walkers that greet Rick and the gang when they re-enter Atlanta to rescue Beth and Carol from Grady Memorial Hospital. Watch the special feature on the IGN video above.
BAD ASS. Really glad they included this on the season 5 Blu-ray. Shout-outs to my boy Stephen Vining as well
Greg Nicotero gives great information about the thought process behind the special effects and how the actors are so important in making the effects relevant and not just for the sake of having cool effects.
But cool they are. And beautiful, according to Andrew Lincoln. The walkers themselves, who you think would be immune to the effects, think these walkers were pretty cool, too.
They showed homegirl dumping that bucket of KY Jelly on me. That was so gross.
Walker
and Walker
talked to each other about their excitement about this special feature on Facebook. Chris posted the video with the caption, “BAD ASS. Really glad they included this on the season 5 Blu-ray. Shout-outs to my boy Stephen Vining as well.”
They continued the conversation in the comments noting that the photo capture was “hilarious” and “gnarly”. Chris gave a little voice over, if you will, with this comment: “They showed homegirl dumping that bucket of KY Jelly on me. That was so gross.”
Stephen said they called him “bowling ball walker” on the set. Nicotero gave Norman the bowling ball walker puppet head for Christmas. Hey Norman, you should get a picture with Stephen and the bowling ball puppet head. I know you love selfies!
