Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead know Laurie Holden as Andrea.  Whether you loved her or hated her, Andrea was a character that was a huge part of several plotlines for the show and was one of the established actresses who was entrusted with the future of the zombie survival drama.

After Andrea’s unexpected death during The Walking Dead’s season 3 finale, she has gone on to be in several high-profile projects, including Dumb and Dumber To and the NBC drama Chicago Med.

Sadly, Laurie Holden has decided to move on from Chicago Med after filming just the pilot episode.  Here is the statement from a spokesperson from Wolf Films, Universal Television and NBC according to Entertainment Weekly.

"“It was Laurie’s decision to opt out of the series. We are sorry to see her go. We are currently casting additional new roles which we hope to have confirmed very soon.”"

Holden herself issued a statement about her decision to leave the show.

"“I am so grateful to Dick Wolf, my fellow cast members, NBC and the entire Chicago Med team for their understanding. Sometimes we must make tough choices and, for family reasons, not doing Chicago Med is one of those for me at this time. I know the show is going to be a huge success and I’ll be watching.”"

Of course, this means speculation will continue to run wild about Laurie Holden making a return to the rejuvenated series The X-Files.  During the show’s initial run, Holden played the role of Marita Covarrubias, an informant and agent who wasn’t a major character but still had an impact on the series.

At this time, there is still no confirmation that Laurie Holden will be a part of The X-Files or any other project in the near future.  However, we do know that she will not be featured on NBC’s Chicago Med.

We at Undead Walking hope to see more from her in the near future, wherever her future may lead.
