The Finale: The Good Man
Travis, the good man, has started to see that the world has ended. Things are no longer the same and may never be again. The group ends up by the ocean, at the home of Victor Strand. Dr. Exner stays behind. The plan to rescue Griselda and Nick compromised her hospital’s evacuation plan. She humanely terminated her patients’ lives in her own mini-Cobalt. We don’t know what she will do about her own life. She is contemplating joining her patients, but be can’t be certain,
The group has an incredible experience that finally leads them to Strand’s home. Nick and Strand escape part of the way on their own. Madison and the family pack up to flee. Travis is supposed to bring Adams along against Daniel’s better judgment. Daniel wanted to eliminate Adams-too much of a risk for warning the others. Travis gets information from Adams and lets him go fearing Daniel will still kill him even after they find their family members.
Liza escapes the hospital per Exner’s instructions. Daniel breaches the compound and distracts the soldiers with the herd of skinbags that were confined in the arena. Not a bad diversion. Liza saves the day with her swipe card and gets Nick and Strand the next part of the way. Now reunited, the group fights their first real walker fight. Liza must break the sad news about Griselda to Ofelia and Daniel.
Finally, they are reunited with the two teenagers and ready to get in the cars and head out to Strand’s house. Travis’s decision to let Adams go comes back to haunt him when Adams shows up to kill his torturer. When Ofelia begs him to please put down the gun, he slides the aim toward her and shoots her instead. Before he can shoot Daniel, Travis beats Adams to the ground and continues to beat him.
When we finally arrive at the amazing oceanside home of The Closer, we find out Ofelia will be okay. In Liza’s last nursing act, she attends to Ofelia. Then she reveals to Madison that she has been bitten. Both mothers talk about the request to not have Travis have to shoot them because it would break him. But they did not give The Good Man enough credit.
Travis is able to do it. He gives his ex wife the gift of ending her life so she won’t turn and come back as a monster that is not any bit of her.
