The Walking Dead comic issue 155 review: Tip of the Spear
By Adam Carlson
Was issue #155 of The Walking Dead’s comic book series any good? Here are the high points and low points from the installment titled “Tip of the Spear”.
Released on June 1, 2016, “Tip of the Spear” is the title of The Walking Dead‘s 155th issue. With so much going on at this time in the zombie apocalypse, it can be a little hard at times to keep with everything going on and not all of it is good.

First, leaving Aaron’s fate up in the air again is tough. It was understandable that after being stabbed in the gut that he wouldn’t die right away, but having to worry about him for two issues in a row is tough. Not “Who did Negan kill in The Walking Dead’s season 6 finale” tough, but tough nonetheless.
The relationship between Carl Grimes and Lydia just keeps getting stronger. Them being physically intimate was a big step, but now we’re seeing even more of what seems to be Lydia’s growing infatuation with him. Carl hasn’t been as vocal about his feelings, which is odd considering Lydia’s past, but it’s great to see her opening up.
In addition, the interactions between Negan and The Whisperers is awesome. It’s like watching an episode of The Odd Couple. The complete seriousness of Alpha and Beta counter Negan’s dirty and offbeat humor in such a way that would be very entertaining for many, many more issues…even if they just talk to each other.
Dwight did more to confirm in this issue that he is in fact a great small-group leader, but may be better when taking orders from a big leader. His decision to follow the orders to extract Michonne and Aaron from The Whisperers territory and return were followed well, instead of falling into the dangerous pleas of Michonne to chase after Beta when he ran into the woods.

Absent in this issue is the compelling and awkward conversations between Eugene and the voice on the radio. Still, I like that this situation isn’t being rushed through and they’re actually establishing a relationship between him and “Stephanie” that could be a major plot in the future.
Otherwise, there wasn’t a lot to mention. Michonne got a wounded Aaron back to The Hilltop. Andrea thinks Rick is acting like Negan. Lydia is getting even more attached to Carl. And it appears as though there is something intresting going on between Alpha and Negan. Not a lot of developments in this issue, but it does set the stage for war since The Whisperers now know that Rick and the other groups do not intend to honor the border.

Issue #156 of The Walking Dead will be released on July 6, 2016. It will be titled “Queen and King” and will likely tell more about the strange but powerful combination of Alpha and Negan as Rick plans his assault on The Whisperers. Things are heating up, and things aren’t going to be pretty when it is time for war.
