During the panel at New York Comic Con, Scott Gimple mentioned the walkers that we will see during season 7 of The Walking Dead.

We’ve only seen bits and pieces of the panel from the New York Comic Con online so far, but we saw a little of Scott Gimple answering some questions posed by Chris Hardwick.

Chris asked Scott about some of the things he was excited about for season 7 other than Negan. One of the things he mentioned was the walkers.

Some really unbelievably creepy, strange weird walkers. If you can do that in the 7th year of a show that has walkers, you can hold your head up high.

I’ve been wondering about the walkers for season 7. Season 6 walkers were very visible in promotional photos before the season and were featured heavily at San Diego Comic-Con. I remember distinctly writing about the walkers, wondering how they were even walking because they were so skeletal and decomposed.

Some of the key art for season 6 had walkers on one side of the wall at Alexandria and the main characters on the other.

During the panel at New York Comic Con today previewing season 7, Scott Gimple complimented Greg Nicotero:

"Some really unbelievably creepy, strange weird walkers.  If you can do that in the 7th year of a show that has walkers, you can hold your head up high."

With all the focus on Negan and the line-up and the world getting bigger with Jesus and Hilltop, along with the addition of the new community of The Kingdom with the eccentric new characters of King Ezequiel and Shiva, the tiger, Greg Nicotero seems to be keeping his walkers close to his chest.

Next: Season 7 walkers

Greg is a smart man. I think the walkers may just blow us away. Even the most ordinary of walker is extraordinary in the hands of Mr. Nicotero and in the right numbers, the right setting in the story, or the right death or kill.

Bring on the walkers!
