The cover for The Walking Dead issue 167 shows Rick Grimes and Andrea in a situation that should have many comic book readers worried about their future.
One thing that The Walking Dead always does well is tease new issues of the comic book series. Whether it is preview pages, cover releases, or little hints on social media, fans can always seem to get a little taste of what is coming up.
Things are looking dark in the zombie apocalypse right now. Alexandria appears to be controlling most of the walkers that were unleashed upon them by The Whisperers, but The Saviors are lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce when they are the weakest.
What could be the most disheartening is a tease for the cover of issue 167 titled ‘A Certain Doom’. As if that title wasn’t ominous enough, the cover looks more like two major survivors are planning a funeral rather than just speaking.
Here is that cover as shared on the official website for The Walking Dead:
On this cover, both Rick Grimes and Andrea are on their knees with their foreheads touching. Rick is holding a gun in his hands, and it looks as though the two might be saying goodbye or preparing to say goodbye to someone else.
Considering there are still walkers in Alexandria and The Saviors are likely going to attack, this cover means that just about anything could happen in the next few issues to warrant this kind of response from two major characters.
The art for this cover was done by Charlie Adlard with the colors by Dave Stewart. Even if this is a tease of a cover, it is wonderfully done and will be a great part of the collection of covers put out recently.
The Walking Dead issue 167 titled ‘A Certain Doom’ will be released on May 3, 2017. With so much yet to happen, it will be very interesting to see what exactly it is that has Rick and Andrea feeling so remorseful.
