Fear the Walking Dead: Strand to deal in the ‘new currency’
In season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead, Victor Strand will be returning to the con man Nick first met in the holding cell. And we’re glad for it.
As the characters in Fear the Walking Dead have come to accept the world they now live in, they are adjusting to the new normal. For Victor Strand, that journey has been a long one. Strand was the most well-adjusted members of the group, but when he lost Thomas he was shaken to the core. It didn’t help when he was injured at the resort and spend a large chunk of his time there recuperating. In season 3, Strand will be making a return to the cool, calm and collected con man we know and love, and he’s looking to take control of the new currency of the new world.
In the third season we pick up where we left off in season 2, with Strand deciding to remain at the resort while Madison, Travis and Alicia go off in search of Nick. But he’s not about to rest on his laurels. He’s going to make the best of his situation and put himself at the top.
Strand is a smart man and he knows a good thing when he sees it. Money, paper money, might not mean anything in this new world, but there is a currency that exists and Strand wants to be sure that he’s the one who controls it.
And what, you might ask, is the new currency? We won’t know the exact details until Fear the Walking Dead premieres on June 4, but we can speculate that it involves food, shelter and/or protection. Those are the most important things and if you have them, you’re in a great place in the apocalypse. If you can supply them, you’re in an even better place.
However, it should be duly noted that if you’re in a position to supply food, shelter and protection, it puts an enormous target on your back. We know this from experience. That’s where the have-nots seek to take from the haves, and it never ends well.
