The Walking Dead continues to be a comic book juggernaut, as in May issue 167 ‘A Certain Doom’ was the second bestselling ongoing title among all publishers.

Sometimes, it is difficult for the smaller comic book publishers to compete with the two giants of the industry. Marvel and D.C. dominate the space, the while others try for their slice of the pie, comics such as The Walking Dead can still find a way to succeed.

In fact, Image and Skybound’s zombie survival drama series made a huge impact on the comic book industry in the month of May when it outsold nearly all of the competition with issue #167 titled ‘A Certain Doom’.

In fact, only one other ongoing title outsold Robert Kirkman’s undead drama according to ComicChron and ComicsBeat, as D.C. juggernaut Batman was the #3 overall selling comic for the month #1 ongoing series moving over an estimated 96,500 issues of #23.

More from Undead Walking

Of course, fans of The Walking Dead know the importance of issue 167, as the installment of the series was a highly emotional one with a major character losing their life in a majorly heartbreaking fashion.

Issue 167 will likely be highly collectible and valuable for sentimental reasons for many readers of the series. For those reasons alone, it is not surprising that it is estimated that over 74,000 of the powerful comic was sold in May.

For the zombie comic series to top other ongoing comic series such as The Flash, Star Wars, and Detective Comics is truly a remarkable feat and shows the huge fan base and power it has accumulated since its introduction.
