The Walking Dead: At least there aren’t dragons
Season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones shared a lot with The Walking Dead. References and zombies aside, at least Rick doesn’t have to deal with dragons.
It’s always fun when the two top-rated shows on television – Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead – share tongue in cheek references to each other. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) made a subtle reference to The Walking Dead early on in season 7, which led us to wonder whether The Walking Dead would return the favor in season 8. As it turns out, there were a lot of fun Easter Eggs tied to zombies in season 7 of Game of Thrones. And though Rick Grimes will have a lot to deal with in All Out War, at least he doesn’t have to worry about dragons.
The first “major” reference to The Walking Dead came, as mentioned, in a conversation between Tyrion and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington):
Then there was the army of White Walkers, which didn’t go unnoticed by fans:
When Danerys’s dragon Viserion died and came back to life, he was a giant dragon zombie. After seeing him attacking the Wall in the season finale, there’s no question that zombie dragons are a bad thing. A very bad thing. At least Rick doesn’t have to deal with dragons.

And at least The Walking Dead’s Walkers don’t know how to use weapons, like sharp pointy sticks.
But now that Game of Thrones has finished its seventh season and won’t be back until 2019, we can spend our time wondering which character from Game of Thrones best matches our favorite characters from The Walking Dead:

With The Walking Dead returning on October 22, it would be fun to see the cast throw a little reference out to Game of Thrones. (If, and only if, it makes sense in the story) Both shows deal with some pretty dark themes, and they’re both very good at racking up the death count. So if it works out, why not have a little moment of levity in there for the fans?
