Fans waiting for the release of OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One got some bad news about the date it will become available.

There are a lot of reasons for fans to be interested in OVERKILL’s game set in the world of The Walking Dead. New characters, new situations, cooperative gameplay, and more had the game on the watch list of many fans of the franchise.

However, a disappointing release on PC has Starbreeze AB re-evaluating the game which was originally set for release in Feb. 2019 and the information in the press release should have fans concerned.

On Friday, this statement was released regarding the upcoming release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4:

"“Starbreeze AB is currently evaluating and reviewing the performance of the game OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on consoles.Starbreeze has decided to postpone the release date from its original February 2019 date, further information regarding the future release will be announced at a later date.”"

Using phrases like “reviewing the performance” and “a later date” are scary terms. Those words mean there could be a chance that the game never hits consoles for fans or that it will need a lot of work before it can finally be released on the two platforms.

Digital Trends sees a lot of trouble when it comes to Starbreeze. They report that the company is struggling financially and many aspects of the company appear to be in danger of being sold off or discontinued.

"“Starbreeze is coming off a difficult ending to 2018, as it filed for the Swedish equivalent of bankruptcy and fired its CEO after disappointing sales for Overkill’s The Walking Dead in November. The company is currently selling off non-core parts of its business, such as its failed virtual reality initiatives.”"

Gamers who love the zombie survival franchise were already put through quite a bit of drama when it came to The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which struggled when Telltale Games were unable to complete the game. Thankfully, Skybound was able to pick up the game and figure out a way to bring it to the public.
