Fear the Walking Dead season 5 synopsis reveals a mission
The Fear the Walking Dead season 5 synopsis reveals more details about the group’s plans about helping people, but the road will be a bumpy one.
It’s time to get excited for Fear the Walking Dead season 5! In addition to recent casting news, the synopsis for the show’s fifth season has been released and it paints an exciting picture of what’s to come for the group. However, the best laid plans always go awry in the apocalypse, and that’s something this group learns the hard way.
Take a look at the synopsis, straight from AMC’s press release:
"Heading into season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead, the group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place. With dogged determination, Morgan Jones leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts. But trust won’t be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed."
The group is making good on their plans to use Al’s tapes to find people who need help, and they’re still trying to spread good will along the way with their mile marker care packages. But it’s not always easy establishing trust, which is something they have all personally dealt with in the past. Trust is earned, and it’s harder to earn in the apocalypse than anywhere else.
Austin Amelio will join the cast in season 5, but there is no indication of how or where Dwight will show up. Alexa Nisenson, who plays Charlie, has been promoted to series regular and Karen David has been added to the cast as a series regular as well. David, who appeared as Princess Jasmine in Once Upon a Time, will play a character named Grace. It’s still early enough to expect to see more casting announcements over the next few weeks and months ahead of the show’s return.
The rest of the Fear the Walking Dead cast will return for season 5, including Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Lennie James, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman and Garret Dillahunt.
The cast and crew of Fear the Walking Dead will make an appearance at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, on Sunday, March 31. The panel will be hosted by superfan Yvette Nicole Brown.
No premiere date has been set as of yet, but AMC notes that Fear the Walking Dead will return in Summer 2019.
