The battle for the prison

Season 3 episode 16: “Welcome to the Tombs”

Sonya says:

I had a very difficult time picking a favorite moment for this season of The Walking Dead because there were so many big events that occurred in this season. But after going through several of my favorite moments my all-time favorite moment of the season has to be in the season finale with the group fought the Governor and won.

This moment stood out because this was the beginning of the power killing squad that the group would become. They used strategy and all the tools available to them to put together a defensive strategy which maximized their advantages. But more than that they fought as one united front believing in each other and believing in their power as a group.

As the seasons progress over and over it became apparent that the bond that this group has proven their ability to fight through even the most horrific circumstances. The bonds of family, love, and loyalty are the heart and soul of The Walking Dead and those bonds really solidified for the first time in season 3.

By the time they came together to fight the Governor, everyone had made some bad choices and everyone had to confront some ugly parts of themselves, like when Rick made the decision to give Michonne up to the Governor. But they came through it and decided that they were going to choose to be there for each other and fight for each other. That’s what makes The Walking Dead the show we all love and it was on full display in their defense of the prison.
