Daryl tells Connie that it’s not her fault that Kelly is missing. Connie insists that she should have gone with her sister.

He grabs her and asks if he ever told her the story of his brother Merle. He tries to sign her the story (and ends up signing and writing at the same time) of when they went fishing at a private lake in a stolen boat. Merle fell into the lake and Daryl rescued him, but Merle was upset that Daryl left the beer behind. He grabs her hand and promises that everything will be all right.

Dog barks and leads them to the pig carcass. Daryl hears something and turns around to find Magna there. Magna shakes her head at Connie.

Alden and Yumiko discuss the plans for the fence. Yumiko thinks she should be out there looking, and Alden says that he would want those three out there looking for him if he was lost. When she walks away, Earl asks if he thinks Kelly is ok, and Alden hopes so. Earl asks if they’re ok, because the tree didn’t fall by itself. It was healthy. Alden says he thinks about the Whisperers every day, and Earl tells him not to stop.

Ezekiel tells Siddiq that someone stole a quarter of their medical supplies. He drops something, and it’s a little tiger that Henry forged for him and he found it in his things. When he starts coughing, Siddiq says it doesn’t sound good. Ezekiel says it’s nothing, but Siddiq says it could be smoke inhalation. Ezekiel stops fighting him and reveals that there is a lump on his neck. It has been there a month and has grown since. He knows what it is because his grandmother and father had thyroid cancer and beat it. It’s 98% treatable, but now it’s a death sentence. Siddiq says they can manage it, but the King doesn’t think it’s possible.

Siddiq says he has also been struggling with his own condition and that’s why he had to leave Alexandria. So many people were looking to him for answers but in the end all they have is each other.

The woman on the bus tells Negan and Brandon that she and Milo had been walking for days, weeks. Their camp was overrun by walkers and so now it’s just her and Milo moving from place to place. She and Milo go out for a walk and Brandon tells them to be safe while Negan has a thoughtful expression on his face.

When they’re gone, Brandon asks if they should follow them to see where their stash is. He grabs his tire iron but Negan puts him back in his seat and reminds him that people are a resource. He appreciates Brandon’s help but things will get worse from here and suggests that Brandon go back home to be safe. Brandon knows there will be questions when he goes back and he’s a terrible liar. Negan tells him to go wherever he wants. Go back and tell them exactly where he is, so long as he doesn’t have to see Brandon’s face again. Brandon gets up, telling Negan he’s just like everyone else.

Alpha tells one of the Whisperers that ears are tricky to skin off of a walker. She speaks with patience, like a mother would. Gamma comes in and passes Beta to give her report to Alpha. Beta is concerned about using another Guardian to dam up the creek, but Alpha insists that these kinds of shifts in strategy take time. Between the creek, the tree and the border it will crush them. (So they were behind the tree!)

The Whisperer who was carving up the walker speaks up and says that they could release their army of walkers. Beta takes a step toward him but Alpha lets him speak. He thinks they could cut the survivors down at once. Alpha suggests a vote, and no one speaks up. She walks to the dissenter and tells him that the lack of votes is democracy. She cuts the back of his leg and tells him how her strategy is like the human body, where you cut it up and drive people to where you want them to be. Beta comes in and kills him. Alpha smiles at Gamma and tells her she has another guardian for the creek.
