Chandler Riggs returns to the apocalypse in ‘Only’, now available on Netflix

The Walking Dead fans know Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, and they watched him grow up before their eyes in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. In the movie Only, Riggs is once again in an apocalypse but it’s a very different world. If you haven’t seen it yet, or if you want to watch it over and over, Only is now available to stream on Netflix.

Frieda Pinto plays Eva, and Leslie Odom Jr. plays her boyfriend Will. After a mysterious disease wipes out women across the globe except for Eva, she and Will must flee to avoid being captured. No matter where they go, though, they are hunted and it is only a matter of time before someone finds them.

Only is a great film for fans of post-apocalyptic dramas and even fans of the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. The mystery of what happened to all of the women, along with what people want with Eva, helps to keep the action moving throughout the film. And unlike The Walking Dead, the aggressors are not walkers but other people – men – who want to capture the only woman left on the planet. It’s a harrowing tale, to be sure.

The film was directed by Takashi Doscher and features Riggs and fellow TWD alums Joshua Mikel and Jayson Warner Smith. Only originally debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019, but it received a wide release in 2020 and now it is available on Netflix.
