9. Claudia from The Alien

Claudia is a character who is featured in a one-shot comic called The Alien. She never made it into the main comic run however her story is still very significant. The Alien is a story based in Spain about what happens to Rick Grimes’s brother at the beginning of the apocalypse. Quickly Jeffrey Grimes meets Claudia and they two really hit it off.

From the moment viewers meet Claudia they recognize she is an extremely capable survivor. Even Jeffrey Grimes calls her his knight in shining armor. She has a mission to get to the United States and she is determined to get there because she has heard they have contained the outbreak. Jeffrey Grimes gets rescued by her because he has an item she needs.

Unfortunately, Rick’s little brother does not make it to the United States or out of this one-shot. He dies saving Claudia on a boat heading to the US when a misstep lands her in the water with a walker. Also on the negative side, he dies before providing Claudia with enough information to find Rick. However, I don’t think now that it is impossible.

Her making a connection with Carl between issues 192 and 193 or even after is a great chance. Rick has a statue and is an icon in the Commonwealth and no doubt this is a huge community. If she made it to the United States she would have to run into it sooner or later and with the information she does have, she could piece it together.

Before Jeffrey dies he is able to tell Claudia that his brother is from the United States, his name is Rick, he was a police officer who was shot in the line of duty and that he fell into a coma but that he had confidence he would make it out. Even without the last name, the two brothers do favor each other a bit so a connection could be made. Claudia is an intelligent woman and Carl knows who his uncle was, this one-shot would allow for some beautiful memories to be brought to the surface.
