Andrew Lincoln gives update on when Rick movies will start filming

Fans of The Walking Dead have waited a long, long time to learn more about the fate of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes after it was announced that his story would be continued in a series of movies.

It seems like every other week; there is some story or quote from Scott Gimple providing an update about the project that has been in development for what feels like forever.

Andrew Lincoln’s busy schedule lately – with projects like Penguin Bloom and A Christmas Carol – has made fans even more nervous that we might not get a glimpse of the Rick Grimes movies for a while.

Given that the only look we’ve had at the future film is a teaser from 2019 that reveals very little, fans’ fears may be warranted. Thankfully, Andrew Lincoln has come to save the day in a recent interview with ExtraTV.

Andrew Lincoln has finally given us some answers to when The Walking Dead movie(s) about Rick should start filming.

This is great news for fans who have been desperately waiting to hear more about the Rick movies. With filming hopefully beginning soon, fan speculation about the story and characters involved will be sure to ramp up.

There are so many questions to consider for how the movie will take shape. Michonne has to be involved – right? Will we see any other fan-favorite characters, like Daryl or Carol, show up? And how will the movie connect to the events in World Beyond, as has been hinted?

Of course, it is tough to say whether the Rick movies will actually start filming in the spring or summer. With the pandemic still limiting the way movies can be filmed, there is a lot of uncertainty up in the air about whether or not the filming will start on schedule. It’s still unsure if Andrew Lincoln will even be able to make it to America to film, with the UK still in the midst of a major lockdown.
