The extended season 10 finale of The Walking Dead, “Here’s Negan,” was a highly anticipated episode that featured some shocking moments and the return of a beloved former character.

Here’s Negan” was one of the best episodes the show has had in a long time and easily the best of the six bonus episodes in the extended season 10. It gave us a look at the backstory of Negan as he and his wife Lucille try to manage her cancer treatments during the onset of the zombie apocalypse.

The episode also featured a very shocking return of one of Negan’s former Savior leaders – Laura.

After losing her life trying to fend off Beta once he snuck into Alexandria, fans had no idea Laura would be showing up again on the show so soon. To make it even better, her brief return played a significant role in the backstory and rise of Negan.

The Walking Dead episode 1022, titled “Here’s Negan,” featured the return of a fan favorite Savior named Laura.

In “Here’s Negan,” Negan comes across Laura while desperately searching for medicine to save his wife Lucille, who is suffering from cancer. He attempts to rob Laura and the man she is with, albeit with an empty gun.

Laura sneaks up on Negan and knocks him out with one swift swing of a baseball bat to the temple.

Does her weapon sound familiar? It should.

Laura gives Negan the bat before he leaves to return to Lucille, and he claims that it “packs a punch.” This bat is the very same one that is later wrapped in barbed wire and named after Negan’s deceased wife, Lucille.

While Laura giving Negan the bat that became the infamous Lucille is a small detail, it helps flesh out the Walking Dead universe, adding to the mythos of one of the most iconic weapons on the show in a natural way.

Although her return was brief, it was cool to see The Walking Dead bring back one of the Saviors’ key members for “Here’s Negan.” The Walking Dead is full of recognizable characters that aren’t always in the spotlight of the show’s plot but fill out the universe and make it feel more lived-in. Here’s hoping that we see more of Lindsley Register and Laura at some point in the future, be it in Tales of The Walking Dead or otherwise!
