Fan favorite, Jenna Elfman, plays the badass June Dorie on Fear the Walking Dead. June has gone through much trauma during the sixth season of this series. The actress has received an honorable mention for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Gracies Awards.

The Gracie Awards, established by the Alliance for Women in Media in 1975. These awards recognize outstanding women across media and entertainment. The awards were named after the iconic Gracie Allen, a vaudeville actress. Elfman shared the announcement on her IG page, expressing her gratitude for the honor.

Fellow TWDU actresses Alexa Mansour and Aliyah Royale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond were also honored with Gracies for their performances in the series.

Jenna Elfman as June Dorie in season six of Fear the Walking Dead

The sixth season of Fear the Walking Dead has been the best season of the series and the most emotional one. Elfman’s character, June Dorie, lost the love of her life John Dorie (Garret Dillahunt), in this season, and this tragedy has changed her. She had to kill the reanimated version of her husband, and that is something you don’t come back from.

June had a tough decision to make in season six when she literally held Virginia’s (Colby Minifie) life in her hands. She could have let her succumb to the walker bite, but June, being June, saved her by chopping off her hand. This is a bit ironic because later in the series, it was June who ended Virginia’s life.

Although Dakota (Zoe Colletti) killed John, June blamed her mother, Virginia, because she knew what Dakota was capable of and never dealt with that. The scene where June kills Virginia was outstanding. Elfman did a fantastic job of making the viewer feel what she was feeling during the confrontation with Virginia in her cell. And, when June puts on John’s hat and purposefully walks out of Morgan’s community, you could help but feel that we will see the birth of a new June.

Congrats to Jenna Elfman; it is this type of performance that earned her the Gracie honorable mention.
