By Renee Hansen
The fourth Walking Dead season 11 reveal on July 8 was another teaser that featured Euguene, Ezekiel, Princess and Yumkio. We know the Commonwealth is holding them, but their future is unknown.
Additionally, there were new character photos and bios released. The bios give us a look at a handful of characters, specifically their characteristics, and a little glimpse into what they will experience going into season 11.
The eleventh and final season is gearing up to be the best one yet. This is only fitting as the final season should go out with a bang making this unforgettable series forever emblazoned in the minds of the fandom.
The Walking Dead season 11 character bios
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus): A man of few words, Daryl is forthright, weary, guarded, and most of all, strategic. His nomadic nature allows him to navigate the familiar and unfamiliar. The divide with Carol is an issue they must address, but food and supplies take precedence. A word to the wise – never mess with his dog.
Fans know Daryl Dixon is a survivor and has been since long before the apocalypse. He suffered much abuse at the hands of his father and brother when he was young. This made him leery of anyone who wanted to get close to him. During his time with Rick, Carol, Maggie, and the others, he has learned not everyone is out to hurt him. He has become a leader and protector to many. Season 11 will most likely prove to be a challenge for Daryl and the rest as they join in fighting The Reapers and try to keep Alexandria safe and secure.
Carol (Melissa McBride): Carol is steadfast in her priorities to help rebuild Alexandria and keep all within its walls protected and fed, but others see the means to survival differently. The strain between her and Daryl is on her mind as she continues to operate independently. She will always go to greater lengths to protect herself, her family, and her community.
Carol is another person who is a survivor. She suffered her husband Ed’s abuse for many years, and when we were introduced to her, she was very timid. Now we see a force to be reckoned with, one who will stand firm and do what she thinks is best. She doesn’t often discuss her plans with anyone; she takes the reigns and makes things happen. Although things are a bit tense between her and Daryl at the moment, this isn’t much of a worry because they’ve been through much together and will figure out a way to push the wedge from between them.
Eugene (Josh McDermitt) A risk-taker in his own unique way, Eugene carries a great amount of guilt. He is aware of the consequences of every decision he has ever made or will make in the future. In this constant emotional state, is his mind capable of trusting what he says and what he sees?
When we first met Eugene, we really didn’t know the real person he is. He was lying to everyone about having a cure and lived in the shadow of Abraham, who was a leader and a take-charge kind of guy. Since the truth came out and Eugene could finally drop the act, he’s become someone people can rely on. He is knowledgeable and has proven useful time and again. There is more story to this character before the series ends.
Ezekiel (Khary Payton): A zookeeper who became King. A man with cancer who has undying optimism. Ezekiel has always helped those around him and himself to live better and be better. Still captured by the troopers, Ezekiel feels he has made a grave mistake.
Once a king, always a king. But, sometimes, even a king can feel defeated. Ezekiel is experiencing something much more frightening than the world he finds himself in. Having a serious illness in the middle of an apocalypse has to be downright terrifying. He is a strong person, and perhaps the Commonwealth will have something to help him, as their community is very advanced. Long live the king.
Jerry (Cooper Andrews): Jerry is vigilant. His confidence and leadership are without question. His effervescence, at times, is the only light in this dark world. But do not mistake his levity for weakness.
Jerry is a character that I hope we see live on. He has been a refreshing addition to the group, and he, his wife Nabila, and their family are just the cutest. It is sweet to see a family in the midst of the apocalyptic world. He is kind and gentle but fierce and loyal. He will defend those who can’t defend themselves until his last breath.
Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura): Yumiko’s strength is her intellect, and it serves her well. Captured, she has little tolerance for the questioning by the troopers. She is unlike anyone they have questioned before, allowing her to look at the situation in a different light while shedding light on the inner workings of her new surroundings.
Yumiko is brilliant, and I believe she will have a great story coming in season 11. She is a person who thinks things through and looks at life differently than most. She is all business and straightforward. It will be interesting to see how she deals with the Commonwealth and what she will discover there.
Judith (Cailey Fleming): A child of the apocalypse, Judith is stronger than her years would indicate. She continues to hold her head high and fight with might for all to live. She feels the pressure of possibly being the only one left in her immediate family. This is a heavy load to carry at any age.
(writers note: not sure about the only one in her immediate family, she still has her brother RJ)
The only female Grimes sibling, Judith, is a young girl who has matured beyond her years due to her environment. She is smart and courageous, characteristics that will get a person far in this world. She shoulders more responsibility than any child should. But, she can use her skills to help raise her generation and beyond to survive another day.
Princess (Paola Lázaro): No matter how dire the situation, Princess believes things will work out for the best. Her head may be in the clouds, but her coping skills are dialed-in to how life really works in the apocalypse. If she were to listen to her inner dialogue, she might realize her instincts and observations could be the key to solving most of their problems.
Princess marches to her own drum and accepts the world as it is, allowing her to adapt to her surroundings. She is a survivor and will continue to fight when she needs to. She is a unique individual who, I believe, will prove to be invaluable.
The Walking Dead: Origins will air the first episode “Daryl’s Story” on July 15.
The Walking Dead will return to AMC on August 22.
