The Walking Dead Comic-Con@Home season 11 details
By Renee Hansen
As fans prepared to watch The Walking Dead panel on Comic-Con@Home for 2021, it was thought this would be the last panel for this series. Moderator Chris Hardwick assured viewers that The Walking Dead would be in attendance for the 2022 SDCC, which will hopefully be a live event. This is great news for the fandom.
The month of October has officially been named the month of TWDU. Ok, so, not officially, but fans have declared it, so it must be true. With the announcement of the two spin-off series premiering their upcoming seasons in October and The Walking Dead will have two episodes in the same month, it just seems like it should be TWDU month. Fear the Walking Dead announced its premiere date for October 17, and World Beyond will premiere on October 3.
This year’s Walking Dead panel started with the official trailer for the final season. This trailer had a lot to live up to, as fans were expecting much. I don’t think the fandom was disappointed. This trailer shows a lot of action, many unknowns, masked people, a massive amount of walkers, Maggie aiming a gun at Negan, and so much more. Take a look below.
The Walking Dead season 11 trailer
If you slow down the video and watch, there is so much to unpack. We see Carol in tears, and at one point, she says, “This is a path you don’t want to go down.” Maggie has a gun pointed at Negan. We hear Negan say, “The only way this works is if we trust each other.” And Alexandria has been overrun by walkers.
It looks to be an action-packed, emotion-filled season, and that trailer is only the beginning of the mega 24 episode season. Season 11 will be released in three parts, each consisting of 8 episodes.
Deadverse Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple had this to say about the end of the series.
"We’re going to give them an extended epic goodbye. We’ll end more than 10 years right."
There will also be some new characters. It was previously announced that Michael James Shaw would play Commonwealth soldier Mercer. Two more Commonwealth characters have also been cast. Laila Robins will portray Commonwealth leader Pamela Milton and Josh Hamilton will play Lance Hornsby.
The Walking Dead season 11 will premiere on AMC on August 22. AMC+ subscribers will be able to stream this episode on August 15.
Season 10 is now available on BluRay and DVD and will be available to stream on Netflix on July 26.
If you missed the TWDU panels at Comic-Con@home, they will be available on AMC+ on Thursday, July 29, in a dedicated AMC+ Fan Experience collection, along with memorable sessions from prior years.
