Negan and Maggie’s face off in The Walking Dead’s final season
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead has had its long list of enemy face-offs during the 10 seasons of the series. As the series enters its eleventh and final season, another pair will eventually have a confrontation, and it might get ugly. There will no doubt be some sort of altercation between Negan and Maggie.
The return of Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) in season 10c brings rehashes the memory of the horrific way that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun). In Maggie’s absence, Negan has changed, but the fact of what he did still remains. Viewers and members of Alexandria have seen the things Negan has done to redeem himself.
We saw him battle a snowstorm to save Judith (Cailey Fleming). He also saved Aaron (Ross Marquand) even after they both spewed hateful words at one another. He joined forces with Carol to end Alpha’s reign of terror. After he killed Alpha, the Whisperers bowed down to him while they had Daryl captured. Negan could have used this opportunity to regain his cult following and become a villainous leader again, but instead, he turned on the Whisperers, ultimately saving Daryl.

What will the final season hold for Negan and Maggie?
Showrunner Angela Kang has said there will be an interaction between these two characters. On the Talking Dead preview special, she stated:
"“A big part of the emotional story is how does this character mesh or not mesh with Negan, who killed her husband,”"
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kang also shared that there is a big, important story that will center around Maggie and Negan that will be fascinating.
In a recent interview with TV Line, Morgan has stated, rather bluntly, what will have to happen.
"“I think she’s going to have to kill him, or he’s going to have to kill her, especially as we find them in the first two episodes,”"
Yikes! I don’t think fans are ready to lose either of these characters, but only time will tell where this story leads.
We know from the teasers and trailer that Negan is a part of a mission with a large group, including Maggie. We have also seen that tensions are high as well as emotions. Will they put their differences aside for the time being for the greater good of the communities?
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 22.
