Each week I choose an MVP from the most recent episode of The Walking Dead. This week’s episode “Promises Broken” was an easy one; Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was by far the MVP for this episode.

Love him or hate him, Negan has ruled this season. He has stayed with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) when he very easily could have just walked away. She has been a thorn in his side for seven episodes, and yet he still sticks around.

People keep talking about a romance blossoming between these two characters; I believe respect and admiration keep Negan around. He sees Maggie, a woman who has been through hell and back who keeps fighting for what she wants.

Negan teaches Maggie a new skill on The Walking Dead

In this week’s episode, Negan realizes that their team of four won’t be able to infiltrate Meridian, kill the Reapers and get the food on their own. He devises a plan to teach them the ways of the Whisperers to use walkers to carry out their plan.

The Whisperers, however weird that whole concept is, were geniuses is figuring out how to use the enemy to their advantage. There is no shortage of walkers, so why not use them to defeat your enemies?

The whole scene is a bit far-fetched, but we will disregard that and focus on the episode.

Elijah was very willing to be a part of the plan as he is seeking revenge for his sister, who the Reapers killed. He seems to be very loyal to Maggie, and it is good to have people like that on your side.

The part one finale airs this Sunday, October 10, and we will see if their plan is a success or not. But, bravo to Negan for once again figuring out what to do to further Maggie’s plan.
