Fear the Walking Dead is a spin-off series of The Walking Dead that began in August 2015, five years after the flagship series was released. Fear TWD started in Los Angeles and has traveled the US and Mexico to wind up in Texas, where season 7 occurred. Many people who previously watched the series are curious if this series has ended.

Filming for Fear TWD started in LA and Vancouver, Canada, and then moved to southern California and Mexico for seasons two and three. Seasons four through six and part of seven were filmed in Texas, and in December 2021, it was announced filming would be moving to Savannah, Georgia.

Fear TWD started with the Clark/Manawa family and the people they met along the way. The majority of that family are now dead. Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) left the series at the end of season 7 after being bit by a walker and forced to amputate her arm. She experienced fevers afterward but never turned and decided to remain in Texas to warn others while the remaining survivors left to find a safe place to live. During the season finale of season 7, Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), a character thought to have died in season 4, returned to the series.

How many seasons of Fear the Walking Dead?

Fear the Walking Dead premiered its eight and final season on May 14. Fans were disappointed that the series would conclude with the upcoming season but are hopeful that the story can end positively.

Showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss promised a reinvention of the series in its final run, and fans expect a lot. The first part of the last season experienced a time jump of seven years and a significant focus on the mysterious PADRE. This segment of episodes saw the final appearance of long time character Morgan Jones (Lennie James).

The final six episodes of the series will see Madison reunited with some of her old friends including Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman), who was though to have did in season 3, will also return.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8, part 2 will premiere on AMC on October 22  at 9 p.m. ET. AMC+ will premiere new episodes three days early.
