The first Walking Dead spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead, is gearing up to release the back half of its seventh season. This season will see the return of a significant character, and the series has been renewed for an eighth season.

During an episode of Talking Dead, a special guest appeared. It was Kim Dickens who portrayed Madison Clark on Fear TWD until season four. She sacrificed herself to save residents at Dell Diamond and was assumed dead. Dickens was happy to announce that Madison survived and will return in the second half of season seven and in the eighth season.

In December, production for the series was moved from Austin, Texas, to Savannah, Georgie. The flagship series has always been filmed in Georgia, and now Fear TWD will also be taking advantage of the generous  Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act (GEIIA) tax credits.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8

The midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead season 7 ended with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) declaring war on Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). This will be, to coin a phrase from The Walking Dead, an all-out war. All of the characters will need to side with one or the other. Morgan (Lennie James) will be on Alicia’s side as he and Strand have recently tried to kill the other.

Many of the main characters reside at Strand’s Tower but are only there because there is nowhere else to go. And then Madison will be added to the mix. Yes, she is Alicia’s mother, but she is also a long-time friend of Strand’s. And Madison doesn’t always make the best choices; she does what she wants.

Fear TWD will return to AMC on April 17 with the beginning of the second half of season 7. Subscribers to AMC+ will be able to view this episode one week early. This season will air until May.

As far as a release date for Fear the Walking Dead season 8, it will most likely be in the fall of 2022. If you look at The Walking Dead’s 2021 timeline, this series began airing in August and ended in October. If the third part of TWD’s final season airs the same as the first part in 2021, this would see Fear TWD season 8 with an October 2022 start date.
