The Walking Dead actress Sydney Park talks TWD Family and zombie culture

Sydney Park is an actress who plays Cyndie, a member of Oceanside, in The Walking Dead series. Although viewers have seen or heard nothing of this group since the end of the Whisperers war in season 10, B Cyndie is still alive in the series.
She recently interviewed on “People’s Party With Talib Kweli,” with Kweli and Jasmin Leigh as hosts, and talked about many things, including her time on The Walking Dead series. You can watch the whole interview on Uproxx Video’s YouTube page, and it is a fascinating look into the life of Park.
Park began her career as a comedian at the age of six when she became the “Youngest comedian to ever perform at the famous Hollywood Improv (now The Improv).” She made her TV debut on That’s So Raven and would go on to roles on Instant Mom, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Santa Clarita Diet, Moxie, and There’s Somone Inside Your House.
Next, she will star with fellow Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus’ fiance Diane Kruger in a film titled First Love that is set to release in 2022.
She will also star in the series titled Coercion that will air on Showtime.
Sydney Park talks Walking Dead
Cyndie is a member of Oceanside who first discovered Tara’s lifeless body in the season seven episode “Swear.” She breaks protocol when she doesn’t kill her onsite, an Oceanside rule.
The community members were terrorized by Simon, who would become Negan’s right-hand man when his former group attacked and killed all of the group’s male members. The survivors moved from their former community of Hollowbranch to Oceanside, led by Cyndie’s grandmother Natania who ordered any person killed who discovered their location.
The trio discussed Park’s time on the zombie-themed series in the interview with Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh. Kweli stated that the season Cyndie first appeared in, season 7, was one of his favorites because of the villain, Negan. Park was shocked because most fans aren’t fond of this season. She also shared that seasons 1-5 are her favorites. They agreed that the series is one of the best ever made and discussed that the zombies are no longer the threat but the humans.
She shared that when she came on the scene, the season seven premiere episode had been filmed, and the crew was still reeling from the graphic content shot during this scene.
Park also touched on the family feel of working on this show and how everyone really takes care of one another. She said it is a bit like summer camp, and everyone takes care of their fellow castmates. Kweli talked about Cyndie being the moral compass of the Oceanside community, and Park shared that it was a very special role to play.
Leight asked why Park feels that zombie culture is such a huge thing right now. Park believes that people see zombies in films and shows and think this is where the human species could go.
Will we see Cyndie in season 11? The hope is that we will find something out about Oceanside before the series ends in 2022.
