Fear the Walking Dead season 7 episode 12
By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead’s season 7B has continued with the character-centric format in this season. Although many viewers have criticized this way of storytelling, it has allowed a more intimate look at the characters highlighted. This week’s episode, “Sonny Boy,” will continue with a John Dorie Sr. (Keith Carradine) focused story.
Dorie Sr. was introduced in the season 6 episode “J.D.,” where he encounters June (Jenna Elfman), who happens to be his son’s wife. He learns of his son’s death at this time and eventually discovers his son forgave him for his past actions.
Before the outbreak, Dorie Sr. worked in law enforcement and was responsible for putting Teddy Maddox (John Glover) behind bars. Maddox was brutally murdering young women, but no solid evidence could be found; Dorie Sr. planted evidence to ensure he was sentenced to prison. A decision that would haunt him and cause him to become an alcoholic that would lead to the ruining of his marriage and see him abandon his child John Dorie (Garret Dillahunt).
Fear the Walking Dead – Sonny Boy
This week’s episode of Fear TWD will see Baby Mo come up missing. In the teaser for this episode, Strand (Colman Domingo) is not happy about this news. It is evident that someone on the inside has taken the baby, most likely for her own safety.
During this episode, Dorie Sr. will find a way to prove himself to Strand. In the episode “Mourning Cloak,” he explained to June that the only way things will ever change at the Tower is if he can get to Strand and make him listen to reason. But, Strand has become more and more paranoid since Morgan (Lennie James) tried to poison him.
The teaser also shows that Wes (Colby Hollman) was accepted into the Tower after leaving the others when Luciana (Danay Garcia) lied to Daniel (Ruben Blades) in “Ofelia.” It seems an odd choice to leave one group because of one lie and join Strand, a man who rarely makes a moral choice.
“Sonny Boy” will air on AMC on Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m. ET. If you are an AMC+ subscriber, you can view this episode now.
