The Walking Dead universe is currently in a state of much speculation for release dates for the upcoming episodes of three of its series. In its last season of the series, The Walking Dead has eight remaining episodes coming sometime in the fall of 2022. The next spinoff series, Tales of the Walking Dead, will release this summer, with its first season consisting of six episodes. Fear the Walking Dead will air its season 7 finale on June 5, 2022, which brings the question, when will season 8 release?
AMC has yet to release The Walking Dead part 3 premiere date other than it will be in the fall. AMC is planning a fan event for the final episode of the series, and the original announcement about that event stated it would take place in November. October is generally the regular TWD premiere month, and this would line up with the last episode airing in October for the fan event. Only time will tell, and hopefully, fans will get an official announcement soon.
Tales of the Walking Dead is an anthology series that will feature stand-alone stories. Showrunner Channing Powell has shared that season 1 of the series is “locked,” meaning it is ready to go. The only information regarding a release date is that it will happen this summer.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8
The eighth season of Fear the Walking Dead will once again see a filming location change. This series has changed filming locations several times during the first seven seasons. Filming began in Los Angeles and then Vancouver, Baja and Austin. Season 8 will see production for this series start in Savannah, Georgia.
Reports have circulated that filming for the next season will begin in June 2022. With that filming date and The Walking Dead’s finale episodes possibly airing in Oct/Nov. Fans could see episodes of Fear TWD season 8A as early as December 2022 or January 2023.
Some of the series, Fear TWD and TWD World Beyond, have piggybacked episodes, airing on the same Sunday, but with the final episodes of The Walking Dead being so monumental, it is difficult to know if AMC would want to do that. And, if filming doesn’t begin for Fear TWD until June, the production team would be hard-pressed to get episodes ready much earlier than December.
So, again these are only speculations, but we will be sure to keep you updated as information is released.
